ROCK POOL

The primary objects for this set are two edge peices that set next to the pool and cover the tiled edges to produce a more natural "spa"-like look while still allowing your sims to swim around in it normally. The base object for these edges is a two tiled rug (which is from the venerable SimFreaks and modified within the bounds of their readme) so they can be set on top of each other to create a varied pool rim. One has plants, the other has an outcropping so together, they should be able to cover the edges of most pool shapes. There is also a "boulder" chair in this zip with the two edge peices. Downloadable in seperates zips below, is an animated waterfall, and the rock walls and floors.

WATERFALL
Animated "waterfall" spa pump requires only the basic sims. NOTE: my animation skills in the sims are better than my skill with Photoshop Image Ready - lol - so the outside wall "jump" in this gif does not actually occur in the game. ROCK WALLS AND FLOORS
Two rock walls, a stone slab floor, three co-ordinated pavers, stepping stone paver, plus a large and small "broken rock" floor to place under and around the pool edges. CLICK on the picture or HERE to download the walls and floors (202 KB).

NOTES ON Z's
A) A side effect of using rugs as bases is that things may be set directly on top of these rocks. At first, I didn't think putting trees and plants directly on top of the pool edges would work because in order to cover the pool, they had to be very dark (in front of almost everything) and were off-set to hang over the edges. So, from the front, all plants look as though they are behind the rocks. After some creative z work, I managed to get the back side to work with most of the Maxis plants in a kind of peek a boo effect. I also tested them on many plants from Persimmon Grove, Wood for Sims (the free ones anyway) and Simorphor with varying degrees of sucess. It certainly was a lot of fun trying them all out and seeing what kind of effects I could get! NOTE: You have to click "ctrl" while using the placing floor tool to remove the cement around the pool before placing plants.

B) The sims and many other non-plant objects disappear behind the very dark z's. The ladder disappears from certain angles as do the diving boards and other objects. When testing, I noticed that the sims, left on their own, tend not to swim close enough to the sides of the pool to interact with the stone. You can order a sim to "go here" in the pool and watch them disappear beind the edge if you want! Putting the plants over the stone keeps the sims from wandering around in them too. C) The z's work fine for using them as edges for paths and ponds too.
