| HOW CAN I SUBMIT? First decide what type of submissions you'd like to make and how often. If you have one great house you'd like to share, then this may not be the site to do it. However, www.thesimszone.co.uk has a format that is terrific for one time submissions and guest artists AND lots of people see it. If you'd like to make regular submissions then you might want to consider being "on-staff" as a simitect. Keep reading.... WHAT STAFF OPENINGS DO YOU HAVE? DO YOU NEED MORE: SIMITECTS/LOT CREATORS/HOUSE BUILDERS/WALLS AND FLOOR CREATORS/OBJECTS MAKERS? Yes, I've been looking for a fellow "Sim Architects" to join me. Maintaining this site and being on staff at The Sims Zone mean that my updates here are less frequent than I'd like. Adding more creators would mean larger updates, more often. For complete listings of needed staff, check out our forum under Simployment. Please send pics of your work plus a description of what you'd like to do. Please limit the size of the pics to under 50k tho, so it actually gets through to my mailbox - lol. Please read the following "rant" about lot requirements before your decide: I'm a stickler on making the houses playable in the game. What that means for lot designers is that I like to include everything custom that is used in the house in one download - i.e. there are no "shopping lists" of places to go on the web and find things that were used in making the house. This usually boils down to using only Maxis files, things found on this site, or personally custom made stuff. I do have permission from some other kind sim makers to include some of their things in my downloads (with credit of course) and usually the houses are made front page downloadable. I have made exceptions on special occasions and included short shopping lists. Since my requirements for using shopping lists that is that *I* be able to find everything on your list easily and I don't have that much time on my hands, frequent long shopping lists are a bit out of the question. Also, I am a file-share friendly website. I play The Sims for fun not for profit so I don't mind other people using, emailing, making available for download elsewhere, recoloring or mangling my stuff as long as they give me credit for it as the base (object, house, etc). I would ask that you give people the same free reign with anything you turn in here. Please read the redistribution for details. If (lol) you're still interested after all that, then please email me with a pic(s) of your creation and what you would be interested in doing. I will probably be happy to welcome you to the site (provided I am not running out of space or have come down with the flu or something)! CAN'T I PLEASE, PLEASE JUST BE A GUEST ARTIST? So, you've read the submissions info and don't think you can make the commitment to be staff, but really don't want to submit to the larger site www.thesimszone.co.uk. I *will* consider exceptional work for guest artist submission, but I would have to treat it as a staff submission as I don't have a space for a separate page which would make your work subject to the file-share thingie. If that's ok, then email me with pics. WHAT DO I GET, IF I BECOME STAFF? DO YOU PAY? Like most simsites, this is a volunteer organization. I pay each month for email space, hosting and bandwidth use, so no unfortunately, I can not afford to pay the staff too. Although in a way, getting free space to post your creations, is like getting paid....I guess. What you DO get is forum mod capability; you can make your own custom sigs and ban people if you want from The Drafting Table forum - woo hoo. You also get an email, a description in the staff area and your name on the front page with what you do. You can have your own folder to upload your creations using ftp or you can send your things through email. When I first started doing this sim thing, I was ftp illiterate, so I understand beginners to the process. The important thing is the quality of your work, not your technical expertise, but I am more than happy to accomodate techie's too. :) |
