Good-bye Letter from Jendea

2/1/04

My dear fellow simmers,
Much as I love the Sims and Sim-creation, I must cut back a little on the time I am spending on the website and playing in general. As a game/hobby, the sims has been great and I have never seen anything like the on-line community surrounding this game and it's mods. Perhaps it was a little too great as it started creeping more and more into my life and I wound up turning a hobby into almost a full-time job. Between creating, emailing, coding, yahoo groups, forums and bbs, not to mention downloading and playing (eeek - which I hardly get to do as much as I'd like anymore too) I wound up without much time for my family. They put up with my obsession for a while, but didn't seem to like my eating my dinners at the computer all the time - can't imagine why. LOL
So, I am relinquishing the running of the site to the very capable Bacchus, who's been admin for a long time here. She will now be handling the organization of the updates, staff and answering most of the email for the general questions about the site as well as making administrative decisions. Most of the coding work for the site will also be done by our wonderful troupe of admin - Greer, Vandi and Bacchus.
I will be getting back to what I like best, creation and playing, but in a more limited capacity. My new creations will still be popping up here and there on the site and I will also be updating the links page (in place of Bacchus as she has her hands full now!). I will be continuing the donations area as usual and still handling the site's finances and paying the bills. I'm taking a bit of a sabitical I guess or maybe going into "semi-retirement". :)
Unfortunately, I will not be able to make any promises about returning emails or completing requests and I won't get to talk to y'all about the updates every week on the front page. However, I am very happy to say that we've heard from almost all of our creative staff and so far everyone has agreed to stay. Bacchus will be bringing you the updates from here-on-in so the site will continue as usual with great new objects, sets, walls and floors and, of course, what we started out with - houses.
OK, I'm starting to mist-up now, so I'll make this short. It's been a good couple of years and I want to thank everyone that I've come into contact with; the donators that keep this site going and without which we would have closed doors a long time ago, everyone who's commented, sent in kind thoughts, ideas and requests or helped out in general, the staff - especially the initial few and Manda and Melly who stuck with me when I hadn't a clue how to organize more than my own downloads, everyone who downloaded and used the items that I made. There is nothing like seeing a door or window you created in somebody else's house - it's an awesome feeling. Finally, I like to thank Bacchus for taking on so much and keeping the whole shebang alive!
Who knows, my brother keeps threatening to teach me Maya - maybe I'll be back with more when The Sims 2 comes out, but for now, I'll just wave and say see 'ya later.
With much love,

jendea
