Sim Links

100% OR MOSTLY FREE SITES

A NOTE ON FREE WEBSITES: Almost everyone these days is accepting donations and many of the free sites have advertising, some of which can be very invasive. If I have had a bad experience with a site (such as spy ware installing itself without my clearance), I have indicated that in the description. If you can afford it, I would encourage you to donate to any site that serves you well in an effort to keep the sites free for those who can't or aren't old enough to contribute.

Simprover has great room sets, many in an antique styles that are so hard to make into sim, but they also have modern and contemporary sets, plus a farm! OMG, if you are into weddings, the flower strewn white car is a must. A relatively new site (started earlier 2004), they have developed quickly to incorporate a lot of content in objects plus walls and floors, skins and heads. Toss in regular updates and this site made it right up to the top of my "check on a regular basis" list. :)
Great skins and heads with an original flair; characters and skins that are fully within the "normal" range and yet stand out as individuals in your game. Also has a couple nice recolors of high end objects, some hacked objects and a themed skin section. I could not get to their making skins buyable tutorial tho - looks like it may be a missed link.
Medium sized site with quite a few areas here including objects, walls and even meshes. You'll find some nice casual skins for both men and women as well as some buyables for women and a few casual for children. Plus houses with no shopping lists including a gothic castle and an old victorian. Love the Castle!
I love the new site design for Jeannie's Bottle of Sims. Here is a classic website that has been around for a long time now and is a standard for gorgeous skins and heads; casual, formal, buyable, anime and celebrity including, of course, Jeannie in her harem outfit!
Sims Deco is beatifully made site with lots of colorful downloads - everyday sets and single objects, holiday sets, wallpapers, floors and combination sets in themes such as African, Victorian, Carnaval. Note: this site is written primarily in French.
OK, I gotta admit - I love the theme. Brought to you by Cookie D'oh and Cookie Cat, Cookie Sims has lots of downloads! For a new site, there are positively a ton of things to choose from - many whole room sets, houses and downtown lots, skins and heads, walls, floors and roofs!
MICROSIMS Microsims primarily has lots. They offer easy to use - just download and decorate - homes for the original neighborhood and also some for the unleashed area. If you are wanting to get started with no shopping lists to collect, this is a nice place to visit. They are hosted by lycos, so be prepared for some pop-ups and ads when you first arrive. Also, I suggest clicking the non-java version. When I was there, I couldn't get the java one to run. I think they are still under construction tho.
Simcredible, while resisting the obvious descriptive adjective, is a great site with many contemporary and modern room sets, quick navigation and close up pictures of everything, so you can see what you are downloading - also, a few pop-ups but they are a file-share friendly, cloning-friendly site (but please read their FAQ for details).
Simzalabim is a site you've probably already heard of even if you haven't visited yet- an award-winning site with a memorable name and lots of cool downloads. You'll find on offer many whole room sets, build mode things, skins and great donation sets as well. The loading time is a little high right now, but I did check at the end of the month.
VRZone1 is an easy to navigate site with almost everything. Their objects and sets mostly fall within the category of high quality "everyday living" - you know those objects you use all the time because they fit in with every decor? I loved the round rug selection and the quilted beds are gorgeous. Of course, I haven't even mentioned the walls, floors, lovely homes, or fantastic skins and heads. I think the heads deserve special mention as they are really beautiful, but not overdone - including the men. If you are looking for a neighborhood hearthrob, this is the place. Once again, even the skins are things you will use all the time. If you think I'm raving a bit about this site, you're right!
A small object site, but very nicely done things with International and Domestic themed categories such as decor from Peru, India and Deco style.
All Victorian Sims is part of Fantasimtales and specialises in Victorian and period skins.  Very nice.  They also have a Locator which is where you can preview and link to other sim fan sites with Victorian, Medieval and other historical skin, object and lot downloads. At the moment their Other Sim Skins is being re-organised so I will review that for you later.  There are quite a few pop-ups here but nothing that seems to nasty.
SimDream is bright, bubbly and pink!  It has a small but interesting collection of objects.  I particularly liked the solarium style tanning bed and the rock hot tub.
Travels with Budda is a charming site with an Asian theme.  There are genuine bamboo futons, a tansu stepped stereo, beautiful scholar's desks and the thing I just had to download - the pagoda roof.
Skins by Jill D has a stunning array of skins, mainly heads, although her clothing range is ever growing and rather stylish.  What I particularly like is that you can download Mums and Dads with matching Sons and Daughters. Create a real look-a-like family.  With female heads each one has a choice of 3 different hairstyles and there is a section for those of you with the later series of Fionns heads.
Only a fledgling site but already with lots of objects, walls and floors, as well as some hacked objects with more on the way. I also liked the tutorials for all of us artistically challenged types who get overwhelmed recoloring a flamingo! They were simple and easy to understand. Only got the odd pop up which is nice too. One to keep an eye on.
Are your Sims sick of plain old meat and three vegies, well head on over to Ines Sim Bakery and pick up some yummy goodies for your Sims. All sorts of delicious pastries, preserves and some things for the garden that produce even more culinary delights. Also a very interesting fridge ... lots of food options here.
A very new Sims site with nice home style objects walls and floors. For such a baby site a good cross section of things up already and growing all the time.
Do you want walls? Well walls, walls and more walls is what you will find at Simphony in Colors, and even better they are catalogued into colours and themes. Need a faux drape, or a gothic wall - then Simphony in Colors is the place to be. They also have a large bin of new unsorted walls, kinda like being at the sales really! Also a starting point for Sims Addicted E-Group, so if you are a little worried about yourself :-) "You know you've played the Sims too much when you can feel your energy bar turning red."
Simphony in Colors is a POBS site as well. And no nasty pop-ups when I visited.
A small site with some nice, easily playable British style homes and more. Stop by and say "HI" to Rob and Dan. :) A few pop-ups.
Skins, skins and more skins. Groovy accessories. Also a great collection of meshes. Accents has an extensive list of skinning tutorials for would be skinners and a huge links listing. They are a POBS site too.
NOTE FROM JENDEA: - interesting makeovers and great skins, but Whew! Set your browser on high security before checking out this site - nasty spawning pop-ups that try to install spy ware, including one that tries to trick you into thinking a system shutdown is occurring. Tread with care.
Juniper Sun is the place to go for your Moroccan influenced items. Stunning furniture, amazing walls and build items. Lots of interesting knick-knacks. Beautiful art. Current updates are always at the Yahoo group and they have an 'Outlet' section for older stuff. Also a POBS site. Yay!
Simply British Living is a brand new sister site (8/03) to Southern Living Sims! You'll find lots of great houses, plus some downtown and vacation lots. It looks like they also have a community lots section planned. Stop by and wish them a Happy Grand Opening!
After you discover Persimmon Grove, your landscaping will never be the same. Truly a unique site with very high quality trees, plants and outdoor living items including the foot bridge, forest mists and groundcovers that blend into the grass - amazing things.
Sassy Sims has mostly objects and walls and floors. There are some real treats on this site including some art deco style windows and awesome coach lamps. While there are sections for plants and some other misc objects, the room sets are the main attraction - love the English Garden Bathroom.
Sim Studios is a fairly large site with a lot of sets - including some very nice build sets with gables, windows and other co-ordinated objects and walls/floors. The site also has skins, a few houses and some quality walls as well. It was nice to see some good kids walls - those are often hard to find and I love decorating my Sims nurseries prior to "trying" to grow the family!
Party Sims is a fun site with lots of recolors and retextures, plus some modified objects (made backless for example) and some great wall floor sets. Love the traditional wood panelling and glass walls.
Sim Gedohns is a wonderful site for modern style furnishings and features an English and Deutsch version. I find the English site very nice, but the navigation is self explanatory on either. Many modern high quality sets are available, plus some floors, walls and a few unique build objects too.
LiSim Creations LiSim Creations is a small site right now, but has highly original objects. This is the home of the built-in fish tank, wall cut-outs, and the invisible window for lightening rooms. Like the invisible floor - one of those items that after you have, you wondered how you ever did without!
Sim Junction has a large variety of recolored and retextured objects, plus some nice plants and a few original objects as well. There are also walls and floors. What I like about this site is the amount of build mode objects - there are stairs, windows, doors, fences and columns available in the build section and more with some of the sets.
31/12/03 Bacchus: SimSimmies is no longer updating.  New site with lovely homes as well as a few objects, walls floors and artwork.
Sim Homelife is a medium sized site with very nice walls and floors, as well as homes and some great rugs - there were quite a number of cookies and pop-ups the last time I was there tho, but nothing nasty. ;)
8/16/03 Bacchus: Naturally Sims is gone. However there is a link at http://naturallysims.ionichost.com which will keep you up to date on where the creators from naturally Sims are working or posting now, or where you can get Naturally Sims Stuff.
7/24/03 Naturally Sims - Gone? Just an error page where this site used to be....
8/16/03 Bacchus: Shop for Sims is hosting 3D Sister and is now a File Share Friendly Site!
For a relatively new site, there is a lot of content here with skins, heads, decor and even object sets. They have a small section of lots, but the homes are very unique and well, just really cool.
Rosewood Sims There was not a single set on this site that I didn't like and some of them were "classics" - ones I knew I would use all the time. There house section is currently under construction, can't wait to see what they come up with.
Oh, Racheloni's! Here's a site I meant to add a long time ago! A good supply of just about every type of download - objects, sets, skins, homes, walls and floors. Everything is high quality too - no need to sort through this site - lol. Honestly, I didn't find anything I didn't want! The site does run through strategy planet and it will want you to sign up for GameSpy in order to download. GameSpy must be a victim of a very unfortunate name and a very bad marketing strategy because it sounds like something you definitely would NOT want on your computer! Yet it seems fairly innocuous as far as I can tell. My spy ware/adware screening program does not pick it out. Please - if anyone knows differently, email and I'll update this section.
Sic et Simpliciter, a new site to me: specializing in gorgeous walls and floors.
Nighttime Sims is another very large site with original meshes including elves! Lots and lots of skins, themes, objects, houses - everything!
Gorgeous formal and period skins! Plus objects, sets and a large variety of decorative items too. Nice layout too.
Simfantasy has merged with 4 Ever Sims to form a (BIG!) site called 4 Ever Simfantasy! They look like they are still in the process of bringing everything on line, but the new site looks wonderful! Tons of content still with most of the room sets back up and lots of skins available already!
Gotta Love Those Sims: This site has lots of cute stuff including purple and pink poodles! However, there are all the staples of sim sites including a very large and lovely selection of walls and floors, objects and more.
SiMstitution SiMstitution has tons of stuff! Skins, heads, wall, floors, lighting, road signs and much much more. All of their stuff looks great with lots of awesome hacked objects. I highly recommend stopping by for a look.
31/12/03 Bacchus: Rideable horses and Christmas treats back up for a limited time 7/23/03 Well, Lphnts Trunk finally went down sort of - there is still a list of the linked places you can get the downloads, so I'm leaving the link up. It's definitely worth doing a bit of a search for. Lphnts Trunk was on the Sims Giftshop and has many very original and unusual objects including RIDEABLE HORSES! There is a living pond the changes and grows, some cool Native American skins and lots more.
Sims Interior Designs is devoted primarily to objects, including a medieval theme section and great kitchen sets. I just love the build sets here.  The site is also easy to navigate.
Sophisticated Sims has it all; objects, skins, walls, floors, neighbourhood, downtown, vacation and community lots. They have high quality downloads, and unique site design. It's definitely worth taking a look.
Pickle Sims has been around for a while and has very nice skins and objects. (They have an awesome spiral staircase!) Lots of interesting and unique stuff.
Trinkets and Treasures has skins, objects, houses and walls, plus a large assortment of cool cars and decorative items. This site has some ads which does have adware (fastclick.com) which is pretty standard stuff, but does leave a "cookie" you might want to remove.
Very unusual site with skins (including pet skins), meshes and eastern European themes. A lot, repeat, A LOT of pop-up ads, but nothing invasive. IMO, worth weeding through tho.
Lots of absolutely fantastic room sets - Ikea-like, modern, romantic, country, Tombstone theme with old west objects, more.
OPHELIAS LITTLE PAGE ABOUT THE SIMS I was searching for roof pieces to clone one day and found Ophelia's pages. She has great Goth items, tutorials for making your own objects and also gable roofs! This is also the home of the Abandoned Garden Conservatory.
SPIRIT WORLD SIMS Are you into Anime? Spirit World Sims is part of the Comic Skin Network. She has many Anime objects, paintings and skins. There are non-anime downloads too, including some great dragon paintings.
Get gorgeous objects at Lerilai's Place. This site has some of the best sets available IMHO, including a lovely Victorian Elegance set that I fell in love with! There are also skins, heads, matching walls and floor and some house lots too. It took me hours to go through all of the downloads - fantastic!
Beautiful Heads! Frilly Sims is a currently active site that is updated frequently with heads, skins and also ...drum roll...new head meshes! For skinners looking for something different I think this site is a "must see" and if you're looking for new skins for your game, you will not be disappointed.
Livin-it-up is a great, unique Sims-site, run by some very nice people and home of the MASTER MESH LIST. One of the largest still-free sites with some of everything you'd want, plus a few things you didn't even think of!
The site occasionally runs out of bandwidth, but so worth checking back to catch. Beautiful site with incredible work by a very talented Sim Artist. Objects and building "supplies" with exotic themes such as Balinese Art Walls and Tzen Stone Tiles and some of the best wood floors and walls there are.
Not just fabulous designer clothes for female and male Sims- terrific heads, including a George Clooney to die for, plus fantastic objects. They have the typical gift (in this case heads or skins) for donation and there is a small portion of the site where you can "shop" for skins at $1/skin to support the site's expenses. Last time I was there, the shop was closed tho.
Cheap Frills has lots of neat objects and not just the usual decorative or replacement objects, but objects that would classify as add-ons too, such as the Martial Arts practice mat that builds body points, or the Ballet Mirror to practice ballet in front of and gain charisma points. With the tiles that make your Sims do sit-ups, push-ups, stretches and toe-touches, you can turn your exercise area into a gym!
dincer hepguler: the sims site has been around for a while (years?) and has lots of great original objects to show for it and a whole lot of wall and floors as well. Very high quality.
31/12/03 Bacchus: I couldn't get through to Virginia Sims again.  But I must admit I love the reviews here.  But they may not appeal to all!!!  7/24/03 Whatever happened to Virginia Sims? 4/29/03 Weird, this site turned into a kind of best and worst of the sim creators offerings, at least they kind of liked my house made with Miffy's Brunel Theme set - uh...sort of, I think(?). An amusing read if you are thick skinned, but don't look if you have a tendency to offend easily.
31/12/03 Bacchus: Moni's continues to do small updates - great news.  7/24/03 Oh my! New updates at Moni's - woohoo! 12/14/02 Moni's is having some bandwidth trouble and while the downloads are still available for free, they can only be accessed through File Planet or filesharing. The entire website's downloads are also available on CD for sale. That said, there are lots of fantastic walls, floors, objects - I really like the Louis XIV and the Moroccan walls! Plus how can you resist The Simpson's themed walls, floors, objects and skins?
I love Sultry Earth - as time goes on, I just keep becoming more and more enamoured of this site! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous skins. Just visiting this site is an experience even if you don't want to download anything! Beautiful skins and heads and it looks like they are adding some objects and interior design elements. Very inclusive list of links too.
12/14/02 Well, I found a few pages that are working. The new link is the portal page. I had trouble with the objects, but the skins are downloading fine.
If you don't know about this site by now, you should! :) Here's your introduction to this staple of the Sim Downloads Sites! A great site all around, free, easy to navigate, lots of interesting stuff, excellent artisanship: primarily walls, floors and objects, with some skins and houses too!
Well, this is the official website: need I say more? There is the Sim Exchange for downloading user created families and houses; official news about upcoming products and events; maxis produced skins, objects and houses. However, by far my favourite part, and a must see in my opinion, is the tools sections: Face Lift Gold, Homecrafter, Make-a-Date and more. Also, if you download a lot from the web, File Cop is great to prevent any bad files from crashing your game.
Seven Deadly Sims is part of the "old guard" of download sites and no Sim web crawl is complete without a visit there. The organization is based on the (yup) seven sins, with the objects and downloads sort-of organized accordingly - and there are soooo many great downloads. They recently started a sister pay site called the 8th Deadly Sim, but the 7 Deadlys are still free. Be prepared to be fast on the draw tho, the frequent pop-up ads keep you hopping as you make your way through the download pages. (I still wonder what the eighth one is tho).
The best thing about this site is positively the objects: many totally unique - definitely on my favourites list. There are also a few houses, some skins and a tutorial on building a conservatory using the downloads from their site. Very neat.
31/12/03 Bacchus: Unfortunately another one I couldn't reach today.  Not sure if it is still alive. Here's a cool idea in house design for people who want to build their own or just want some fresh ideas. This site offers blueprint style floor plans for Simhouses that work (also a refreshing idea - can't tell you how many gorgeous houses I've downloaded that are unplayable) instead of downloads. Kinda cool navigation too.
31/12/03 Bacchus: Junet's was unreachable today.  Will keep checking it out for you.  Junet's is a small, high quality, free/donation site that features mostly objects. The objects are amazingly high quality though. Even the recolors are very originally done.
How many "must see" Sim sites are there? Put this one on the short list. The home of the original Puffy the Porker, the basis (I believe) for the dogs, cats and other pets found on a lot of download sites. Plus lots of other unique objects. Also has Mac downloads available!
A nice little site with home downloads - at least a couple for each lot and it looks like at least one starter per lot too. In addition, there are a couple downtown lots offered and an extensive page of links, very easy navigation. Note: This site does have an occasional pop-up ad (not too intrusive though - it actually took me a while to determine that it was this site creating them and so far nothing has been spawning) Also, site locks at end of month for exceeding bandwidth occasionally - best to try and hit this one at the beginning of the month.
Studio Sim is a good size site with a little of everything (except downtown and vacation lots) including heads, swim wear and night-time wear. I really liked their objects though the best - check out the 80's collection! Also, the site has easy navigation, but I almost missed some of it - be sure to click the "warehouse" section for more great downloads.
9/19/02 The Sims Resourse is now a mostly subscription site - how sad. :( There are still free downloads here, just a very small portion of the total. It changes every three days too, so you can get new stuff periodically. The Sims Resource is a partially free/partially ad-run/partially subscription site. I have had trouble going here as a non-member with a nasty adware program, but I think they are past the mega advertising stage. IMHO, it is worth the risk and the trouble, because it is positively huge - there are more downloads here than you could look at in a week.
