Links to Sites With Useful Sim Programs

These are links to sites that have useful programs for Sims Creation, either free or for shareware.

CHUMBALUM-SOFT: MILK SHAPE 3D
Milk Shape 3D is a great shareware 3D program for mesh making with easy import and export of Sims skins built in.
IFF EDIT
Programs written by the great Tom van Dijk, including the IFF Pencil for viewing (and hacking) objects and also the indespensible TransPatcher2 for fixing the messed up sprites that occur on some of the Vacation and Unleashed objects.
LUSH CREATIONS: TMOG
Lush Creations: Download TMOG (necessary for object creation).
EA THE SIMS OFFICIAL SITE
Click on "Get Cool Stuff" and then Make Cool Stuff. There are tons of great add ons for the Sims, among the necessities (in my opinion) are The Sims File Cop - for errors; The Hot Date Object Organizer - for making your objects show up in the right places in the menu; HomeCrafter - for making walls and floors; and Face Lift Gold - for making starting heads and head .bmps.
Here are some more Sim-related Programs that are useful for all Simmers, not just the people making things; download assistants, object and lot organizers etc.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD HANDLER
I really don't know what I used to do before I knew this program existed. It is great for keeping track of all those lots in the sims. You can create and save backups of your neighborhoods, make new neighborhoods, switch lots between hoods and even create pics of your lots that look like the thumbnails in the game (i.e. it shows the whole lot even on the big ones) but much larger than the ones in the folder. This has been essential for me as I try to keep track of the lots I make.
SIM ENHANCER
Home of Sim Enhancer 3D and SE Object Manager. Both cost $$$ (minor at this point at about $15 for one and $10 for the other). There is a 48 hour trial period to you can try before you buy too. The Sim Enhancer focuses on letting you do everything you want to tweak your sim - change personality, skills, career, interests, pics your sim in 3D. You can also manage your skins, make skins into "buyables" and it fixes some problem skins too. The other is an object editor and manager which checks for object conflicts that can crash your game, sorts into categories, creates far files, edit objects. Each of these does far more. Too many features to list, but both look really awesome.

The rest are links to programs that are not related to Sim stuff creation, but are useful either in general or to those of us that surf a lot of sims sites - some are commericial, some free, some shareware.
ADOBE PHOTOSHOP
The paint program of choice IMO, but mighty expensive.
JASC SOFTWARE: PAINT SHOP PRO
Darn good paint program for the money and certainly adequate for all your simming needs- the site has a free trial download available that expires in 30 days.
AVG ANTI-VIRUS PROTECTION
Free downloadable Anti-Virus Protection. If you are on line posting on message boards and your email is "out-there" you've probably already received a ton of viruses in the mail - it's epidemic in the Sim Community. So why not check your machine? It's free and easy and protects your email, your outgoing email and can search through your whole system for anything suspicious whenever you want. I run a scheduled check everynight! Also, AVG has never interfered with my Sims game.
AD-AWARE
Free downloadable adware removal program. If you are like me and you surf alot of sims sites, you've happened along not just the typical ad and spyware programs like value-click and gator, but also the horific Xupiter and Comet Curser that change your whole browser and cause your internet connection to be slow as molasses because it's tracking eveything you do. How convenient for it. Get rid of spyware scum with ad-aware. This is not a "protection" program that runs in the background, but a program you run that searches through your system and find anything suspicious. It then presents you with the list and asks you to check anything you want to get rid of which it will. The first time I ran it, I had hundred of files that were placed on my system by tracking programs that I had happened into. This had the added benefit of making room on my harddrive for files I actually wanted - lol.
